i'm getting my education degree this year and am working in a practicum placement in an elementary classroom (5th grade).

it's a very practical way to see first-hand how teachers teach, discipline and help mold their students.

one student is a jw.

What a great Teacher ! It is a good lesson for her students too . It is good for them to think of ways to show acceptance and kindness . I hope the JW little girl will be thrilled and happy to know her classmates love her too .

JWs Celebrating Brithdays

i keep hearing of more and more jws that are celebrating their birthdays or, doing "special days" for their children on the day of their birth.

i'm sure this has always been done but what interests me is that many people aren't ashamed to admit it since they have used their own fully functioning minds to figure out that the society's birthday ban doesn't hold up.

one young couple with two kids (he's an ms, she's an ex-pioneer who dropped off the list to tend to the kids) explained it to me this way.... "the happiest days of our lives include the births of our children.

It is great some are using their thinking abilities ......but it is too bad they have to do so quietly and in secret . I imagine they have to tell the kids not to say anything at the Kingdom Hall about it ?

what would you do if your 19 year old son announced to everyone on his fb list that he was engaged to be married, and this is the first you ever heard of it?.

how about if that same spawn told his fiance, who you've never met or talked to, that his whole family is dead and that you are not his real mother (or father)?

also, what if she told you through pms on fb one by one what he was claiming, and you explained each one in detail, and she didn't believe you?.

Okay I will try , White Dove I have three sons and I would be devastated if any one of them treated me this way .

However in your case it makes no sense to us readers that your son just out of the blue has chosen to be so hateful . There must be some personal issues you two have gone through to cause such actions on his part . I am sorry ...

My advice would be to back off give this situation space and time . Do not make a bad case worse . He is 19 .....is he really financially able to marry and provide for a wife ? If not maybe he knows you will oppose his decision so in his immature way is cutting off communication to get his own way ??

Only you know the whole story .

I am sorry this is happening and causing you pain . Be the adult ....even though you are hurt ....remain calm cool and collect and let him reap the consequences of his actions .

I hope he will mature come to his senses and be happy he had a loving mom that didn't stoop to his level.

well, it was hard but after a few years my sig other is pretty much out.

we celebrate the holidays, and they are very enjoyable.

i was shocked, though, that last night she pulled out a lottery scratch card!!

I agree buying a lottery ticket is just one of those FU moments I get a little kick out of too. Finally after almost six yrs of being out , my husband is starting to participate in little guilty pleasures .....he buys lottery tickets now, brings treats to work on his birthday and holidays ,and is getting more comfortable with me decorating for the holidays .Baby steps .......maybe one day he will even vote

So which makes more sense? Sex or no sex in the "new system"?

obviously jah wouldn't allow for millions of pregnancies in the new system for fear of the same problem today of overpopulation.

so would he throw in sex but not allow for the women to become pregnant?

or would there be just no sex at all?

I no longer worry about things that are never going to happen ........all I know for sure is sex is still happening

Would you say anything to someone that is accepting JW literature ?

there is a woman at the place i work that has studied off and on for several yrs with one of the jw employees .

today i was in her office and i noticed in her bookcase a collection of jw literature .

she has the insight books , a revelation book and some other brochures .

It seems to me this woman is not interested in joining ,just curious about what JWs do believe . Otherwise she would have already been going to meetings . She has studied and taken magazines for over seven yrs !

I would like to just ask her opinion for example Does she think the Witnesses are the only true religion ? She has read enough literature she has to know that is what THEY think .

I can imagine she has had it all sugar coated to her about how wonderful the witnesses are ,but I wonder if she is aware they have problems just like every other religion .

She is a facebook friend of mine . Maybe what would be better is to start a blog on there sharing my forty yrs experience growing up as a Jehovah's Witness . That way she can at least see a different perspective .

There is a woman at the place I work that has studied off and on for several yrs with one of the JW employees . Today I was in her office and I noticed in her bookcase a collection of JW literature . She has the Insight books , a Revelation Book and some other brochures . I know she has taken the magazines for a few yrs too. I think she knows about my past . The people in this workplace gossip like crazy so nothing is a secret . My JW ex-sister in law is the one that witnesses to her .

So today I was just wondering how to go about opening up a discussion about the literature she is reading . As far as I know she has never gone to the Kingdom Hall .

I would like to at least ask what she thinks about what she has read so far ....

Would you ever warn someone you know about the true nature of being a Witness or do you just mind your own business and let them figure it out themselves ?

MODERN FAMILY !

Love it ,loveit,love it .....

Wednesday night is my TV veg out night I love all the shows on ABC that night :In the Middle , Better with You ,Modern Family, Cougar town ,and Off the Map. I can not remember a time when I liked so many shows at one time .

The humor and chemistry on Modern Family is great and makes me laugh so much . Cougar Town started off slow ,but now I am really liking it too. Sarcastic humor is a tradition in my family so these shows make me feel at home .
